Elisabeth Hubmann | geb. 1994
The Tyrolean organist Elisabeth Hubmann, currently active primarily in Innsbruck, Geneva and Amsterdam, specialises in early and contemporary organ music and advocates a transdisciplinary, anti-reductionist approach to the organ. In her work as a musicologist, she explores in particular the intersections between anthropology, cultural heritage, listening practices, instrument making and practice-oriented research (artistic research). As part of her PhD at VU University Amsterdam, she is researching modern organ cultures, historical sound heritage and their resilience. As a performer, she plays a wide repertoire on historical and modern keyboard instruments. She performs regularly in international concert series and collaborates on various music and research projects, including with: Orgelpark Amsterdam (NL), Schnitgertage Ganderkesee (D), Schwaz Silberstadt Organ Concerts (AUT), Oude Kerk Amsterdam (NL), musik+ (AUT), Musée suisse de l’orgue Roche (CH), Admont Abbey (AUT), Registri (IT), Toulouse les Orgues (FR), Carinthischer Sommer (AUT), Cathédrale d’Annecy (FR), St. Antonius Oberkassel (D), Verspérales Temple d’Aubonne (FR), Internationale Orgelwoche Paderborn (D), Sound Rebellion, VRVN (CH), and many more. She is currently working on new concert programmes, collaborative projects featuring compositions for the Utopa (hyper) organ in Amsterdam, and organ-microphone studies. Since 2026, she has been co-titular organist at the famous Abbey Church of Romainmôtier.
For her, music and art are less a profession and much more a way of life, a dedication, a willingness, and a filter of perception that not only guides perception but also enables understanding. Fascinated by traditional music and environmental sounds, she regards musical and artistic practices as the most important resources for sustainable thinking and action.
