The association for promotion of the Church Music Week in Neuss, in co-operation with the town of Neuss herewith announces a competition involving Organ and Song Duo.

The competition takes place in the framework of the Neuss Church Music Week, 5th to 8th September 2016 and offers prizes totalling 5500 Euros.

Criteria include technical and musical skill plus creativity in designing a programme to suit the various churches and organs as well as the artistic individuality of the participants.

Eligibility: Singers and organists of any nationality born AFTER 31st December 1985.

Applicants older than 30 will be accepted provided they are registered students at a College of Music.

SELECTION PROCEDUR

The Jury will select the duos to be invited to the competition.

All judging performances will be open to the public.

 

Monday 5.9 & Tuesday 6.9 – Practice sessions for all participants for organ for the first and second rounds.

Wednesday 7.9 1st and 2nd rounds.

Thursday 8.9 Practice sessions for the final round and concert finale at 7 p.m.

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

 

1. Completed application form (see left)

2. 3 programmes of 15 minutes including an organ solo piece for the competition (approx. 5 minutes) for each of the following churches:

A. Christuskirche – with the Kleuker organ III/38. First round
B. Marienkirche – with the Klais organ III/47. Second round
C Quirinusmuenster – with the Seifert organ from 1907 (IV/86). Third round

3. A CD or YouTube link containing the following recordings:

A. For the organist: A Trio-choral prelude by J.S. Bach:

Either «Allein Gott in der Hoeh' sei Ehr»(BWV 684) or

«Herr Jesu Christ dich zu uns wend»(BWV655)

B. For the Duo: an aria from the St John Passion by J.S.Bach arranged for voice and organ.

 

Pieces submitted with the application may be considered in the first round of judging.

Le groupe de travail pour promouvoir la semaine de la musique sacrale à Neuss organise en colaboration avec la ville de Neuss un concours dnas les disciplines Chant-en-duo et Orgue.

Le concours aura lieu dans le cadre de la semaine de musique de Neuss du 5 au 8 septembre 2016 et il est doté d’un montant total de € 5 500.

Seront pris en compte en plus de la performance technique et musicale, l’élaboration du programme adaptés aux églises différentes avec leurs orgues ainsi que la personnalité d’artiste des participant.

Chanteur et chanteuses et organistes de tous nationalités, nés après le 31 décembre 1985
Des candidats qui ont plus de 30 ans sont admis s’ils sont inscrits dans un conservatoire de musique.

Jeudi, 8/09 – préparation pour le tour de la finale et à 19h pour le concert de la finale
