Journal of Johann Andreas Silbermann discovered!

In November 2014 the Saxon State and University Library Dresden succeeded in acquiring at auction at the London auction house Sotheby's a journal - whose existence was hitherto unknown - belonging to the Strasbourg organ-builder Johann Andreas Silbermann (1712-1783). Its title is "Notes on the matters of interest seen on my journey through Saxony" and in it the nephew of Gottfried Silbermann describes the journey undertaken from February to June 1741 which took him to, among others, Gotha, Leipzig, Dresden, Freiberg, Zittau and Berlin. It is a fascinating read:
