65th Anniversary of Organ concerts

Great or Our Lady's Church of Breda (The Netherlands)

From July 8 until August 19 the International Organ Festival on the famous 4-manual Flentrop organ takes place in the Great or Our Lady's Church in the city centre of Breda, The Netherlands. Every Friday evening the organ will be played by renowned national and international organists.

The 65th concert series is dedicated to Max Reger (1873-1916), the most important organist and composer of the German Romantic period. The use of strict counterpoint shows his admiration for his famous predecessor Johann Sebastian Bach. For the choral based compositions the catholic Reger found his inspiration mainly in the richness of the protestant hymns. Reger's large Choralphantasies will be performed during this Organ Festival.

The 2016 program is as follows:

Fr July 8: Jan Hage, organist of the Dom Church in Utrecht (The Netherlands) and member of the jury of the 2nd Breda International Organ Competition in 2015.

Fr July 15: Gerben Budding, organist of the Great Church in Gorinchem (The Netherlands) and representative of the younger generation of promising organists.
