free choice of speciality from early Baroque to early Romantic and Improvisation
instruction daily on the Holzhey Organ and plenty of time for practice, conversations and meetings. 

 

Trip to Ochsenhausen (Gabler Organ 1728, 1755 ) and to Rot a.d. Rot (Holzhey Organ 1793).

Johannes Mayr

born 1963, 1981-1987 studied catholic church music in Stuttgart, under, among others Rudolf Walter, Ludger Lohmann and Willibald Bezler. 1990-2001 full-time church musician and dean in Bad Wurzach,

2001 to 2011 in Stuttgart (St. Fidelis), 2004 onwards regional cantor. 1992 to 2007 lecturer in liturgical organ playing/improvisation in Augsburg (Leopold-Mozart-Conservatory/ Nürnberg-Augsburg College of Music). 2004 onwards lectureship in Organ literature and organ liturgy playing at the Tübingen College of Church Music. 2009 onwards teacher of organ improvisation at College of Music Stuttgart.

2011 onwards Cathedral Organist at the Co-cathedral St. Eberhard Stuttgart.

From 1991 organ expert for the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart. His research over many years in to especially the organ landscape of Upper Swabia have appeared in many publications.

As an organ improviser he has received numerous awards:
Prizewinner "Organ playing in church service" Rottenburg (1988),
South West Broadcasting Company organ improvisation competition
International Organ Improvisation Competition on contemporary art "Metamorphosis of Form"
Regensburg (1998).
First prize: European Organ Improvisation Competition Schwäbisch Gmünd (1989),
International Organ Improvisation Competition Montbrison/France 1991
International Organ Competetion "Organ without frontiers" Dudelange/Luxemburg 2009.

established in 2004 as a summer meeting place for organists from all over the world, young and old , professionals and beginners
